Encoders for the heavy-duty industry have to withstand a great deal, for example extreme temperatures and shocks. The bearingless magnetic encoders in our MAG incremental range are becoming even more versatile – they are now available with Ex protection in compliance with the ATEX directives.
Extremely robust and explosion-proof
The bearingless magnetic encoders in our MAG incremental range have been proving their qualities when used in extreme ambient conditions for a long time. Thanks to their compact design, they demonstrate their strengths particularly well when used in tight spaces. The MAG Ex model now comes with Ex protection in compliance with the ATEX directives (Gas, Zone 2: Ex II 3G Ex nC IIC T4 Gc). This new development has enabled us to expand the range of applications of these extremely robust, contactless encoder systems to cover the Ex area, for example for use in oil and gas production, offshore platforms, pipeline compressor stations and petrochemical plants.
Long-living and suitable for flexible use
The MAG Ex magnetic encoder systems are extremely robust and long-living. Thanks to their bearingless design and contactless scanning, they operate without any wear. A special protection cover made of CFRP additionally protects the encoders against environmental influences. The scanning head has a seawater-resistant design (IP67) and is therefore also suitable for offshore applications. The design of MAG Ex systems can be customized for shafts with diameters from 50–380 mm.
Made-to-measure solutions
The wide variety of additional options available for MAG Ex encoders enables customized encoder integration, for example a second scanning head for the transmission of redundant signals. For additional FOC signal transmission over distances of up 1,000 meters, an external transmitter/decoder can be added to magnetic encoders. The explosion-protection MAG Ex encoder systems with HTL or TTL output signals are available now.
