Electronic overspeed switch
The overspeed switch EGS 40, which functions independent of the encoder, fulfills the highest work safety and accident prevention requirements for operating statuses such as "safe standstill", "safe limited speed" as well as those applicable when carrying out maintenance procedures on live components and devices. The integrated speed sensor generates a voltage proportional to the speed, which is processed by an evaluation unit. The actual speed is continuously compared with the programmed limit speeds stored in the non-volatile memory. The evaluation unit triggers the corresponding switch if the limit speed is reached. The EGS 40 replaces its predecessor model EGS 4; it is available as a flange/foot mounted version for switching speeds from 0.63 rpm.
